baby’s first 32+ page comic
Wow, I actually pulled it off.
In October 2025, I created a 36 page comic for Craig Gleason’s the Season of the Bad Guys club prompt list (combined with Peachtober prompts). Every year there is a huge prompt list posted of characters to draw and this is my 6th year participating. Over the years I have learned more about myself and seen how I’ve changed in my approach to completing 31 draws in a month. With each illustration I push myself to create new characters and develop some sense of a backstory for them. Last year was a series of self-portraits but this is the first year that I decided to follow a consistent main character. I have never created a large scale comic like this so I had no idea what I was doing. I thought I could use the same system from before: create a set of quick/ugly thumbnails (typically 3 for each prompt) and then sketch it out in the month of September so I can at least get a few done before posting in October. When I tried to do this, I became overewhelmed and began to second guess if my story made sense or if certain panels actually worked together. It wasn’t until I had a conversation with Thony Aiuppy that things became more clear. Thony is like a local comics legend. He illustrates these super awesome comics and I greatly admire his work. He gave me the sage advice of scribbling things on index cards first and that became the key to figuring out the comic you see today. I hope to one day have this printed but until then it will live here on the internet.
